Hi Sarah

I am willing to coordinate a survey—(I cannot attend on June 23 it conflicts with Meadow Rover meeting. )  But would be willing to do either a day hike or possibly overnight with some other folks and survey—

Margot

§  Weed Watcher Expansion! [1 Update]

Sarah Krueger <sar...@mountaineers.org> May 10 09:06PM

Hello everyone,

Thanks to the success of our Alpine Lakes Weed Watcher program in surveying 160 miles of trail last year, The Mountaineers recently received a grant from the National Forest Foundation to expand our Wilderness Weed Watcher<http://www.mountaineers.org/weedwatchers/> program to six additional wilderness areas in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest! New areas that need to be surveyed over the next two field seasons include Mt. Baker, Noisy-Diosbud, Boulder River, Henry M. Jackson, Clearwater and Norse Peak wilderness areas (see attached map for reference). And of course work continues in the Upper Snoqualmie trails along the I-90 corridor, as well.

This program expansion means more trainings and more incredible destinations to hike with a purpose this year! If you would like to brush up on your weed watcher skills, please join us at one of the three upcoming trainings in June. We may have an additional training in Tacoma/Pierce County, stay tuned.

June 9, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. - Darrington Ranger Station, 1405 Emens Avenue North, Darrington, WA<http://www.mountaineers.org/source/atrips/TripRegister.cfm?Event=34749>

June 15, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. -Glacier Public Service Station, 10091 Mt. Baker Hwy, Glacier, WA<http://www.mountaineers.org/source/atrips/TripRegister.cfm?Event=34750>

June 23, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. - Upper Snoqualmie & Wilderness Weed Watchers Training - Snoqualmie Ranger Station<http://www.mountaineers.org/source/atrips/TripRegister.cfm?Event=34183>

Further, I welcome your involvement as a survey hike leader/organizer. Please let me know if you would be willing to coordinate a survey hike this summer that will be open to other trained weed watchers. Group surveys are a great way to boost plant ID skills, build confidence with survey methods and share the joy of the trail with others. As always, I am happy to help with planning and logistics.

Thanks again for all your work last year and we look forward to another successful season of weed-hunting!

Sarah
