Community News
This week we're featuring Jewish genealogy and our connections to Jewish notables on the Big Tree.
- Do you have any Jewish ancestors?
- Do you have Jewish genealogy questions? Can you help others with their questions? Join the Jewish Genealogy Research Party tomorrow (Thursday). Chat and get to know the group, or just lurk and listen.
- Would you be willing to help create and improve profiles to honor the Jewish community, or welcome and help others with Jewish roots? Tell Elaine if you might be willing to join the Jewish Roots Project.
- Tree Apps are created for members, by members, for free. Join volunteer developers Greg (creator of your fan chart), Kay (Bio Check), and Rob (WikiTree Sourcer) for a Tech Talk on Monday, August 25. Bring your questions and suggestions. You don't need to be a "techie." Everyone is welcome.
Member of the Week: Louis Kessler [interview], a leading contributor to Jewish genealogy on WikiTree and many WikiTree Challenge weeks. Louis strongly recommends the WikiTree Sourcer for automating "the more tedious data entry tasks" and:
"... the ability of Sourcer to fill in the search forms on Ancestry, FamilySearch, MyHeritage and many other sites is a game changer for genealogists. Whether they're on WikiTree or not, every genealogist should be using Sourcer."
- Are there GEDCOM-created profiles on your Watchlist or WikiTree profiles with GEDCOM junk? If not, there are plenty of others around our tree. We're cleaning them up in this week's Data Doctor Challenge. It's super easy with Automatic GEDCOM Cleanup (AGC).
- Quick Tip: G2G (our community's Genealogist-to-Genealogist forum) is the friendliest family history forum anywhere. What are your genealogy questions? Where are you stuck? Do you need help? Just ask!
