How long will the download take? After 12 hours I see no change in the status bar

on the download screen there is a white bar at the bottom.
Should this show the progress of the download by changing blue?
I'm concerned that my connection is not working.
I think that for a 9.99 app there should be more support. I like the
idea of this app but if I can;t download I think I will feel very
cheated
