What’s new at WikiPathways
--------------------------

WikiPathways is continuing to grow. We're pleased to announce several
new features and updates:

-- More Species --

We've increased the number of supported species at WikiPathways.
Supported species now include amongst others Cow, Chicken, Dog,
Mosquito, Xenopus, E. coli and B. subtilis. See if your favourite
species is supported at:
http://www.wikipathways.org/index.php/Help:Databases

-- New Inferred Pathways --

To seed the pathway content for all the new species, we've used an
automated mechanism to infer pathways based on homology. This has
increased the number of available pathways to a total of 1259 across 15
species. Of course, manual curation leads to better results than
automatic inference, so we invite you to make use of your expert
knowledge and improve the quality of these new pathways.

-- Web Service Paper in PLoS --

WikiPathways has recently published an article describing the new web
service API, which allows programmatic access to search, download, and
data mapping functions. Check out the PLoS ONE article:

-- New Database Updates --

Our gene databases are derived from Ensembl. Recently we've been able to
increase the frequency of database updates to match the pace of Ensembl
itself. The new gene databases for Ensembl 55 have been completed and
installed at WikiPathways.

with kind regards,
WikiPathways Team
