Welcome back to the weekly meeting summary emails, now back in full
force. Earlier today Jim, Laurent, and I discussed the following:

1 oDesk freelance work
===============
Half of our six workers completed their lesson building interview.
Still waiting on the other half but moving forward with discussions of
longer assignments focused on building collections of lessons.

2 Indian organization cordination
=======================
Finalizing agreement on working together and dates for work in
October so we can begin planning travel.

3 Workshop/Sprint
=========================
Met with Matt today and agreed on a date for our fall workshop. Full
details will follow in a day or so once we have confirmed the room
reservation. The basic format will be a sprint focused on arranging and
polishing a collection of introductory English materials for use by
child and young adult students in offline computer kiosks and labs of
the type built by the Hole in the wall computer program
(http://www.hole-in-the-wall.com/) and Kids on computers
(http://www.kidsoncomputers.org/). By the end of the sprint we will aim
to have a month or two of self-guided lesson materials ready to send to
Kids on computers before their next lab deployment later in the month.

4 DONE Search macro
====================
Merged and pushed to the main site. See
[https://wikiotics.org/en/LLT-A1-Stage1-CoverageMap] for an example.

5 DONE jquery upgrade
======================
Deployed. We are now running 1.8.0 (latest version)

6 Indexing
===========
Real-time indexing is in progress. Jim is breaking up Laurent's
commit into smaller ones and merging to master. Should be done by next week.

7 User rating
==============
First step is migrating WikiPage and WikiRevision to mongodb. Once
everything is in mongodb we can start querying individual user ratings
using whatever heuristic we want. This will let us keep ratings flexible
and not require each user's rating of each lesson to be a separate page
edit on that lesson. We plan to start with a very simple like/'thumbs
up' widget on lesson pages.

7.1 "favorite" lessons
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once ratings are stored we also want to make it possible for users
to find all lessons by their
8 Visual editor
================
Aloha ([http://alohaeditor.org/]) is very easy to deploy and very
modular. Laurent has a working generic deploy on the dev box. He will be
re-building it from source with our specific subset of features and
modules, then clojure compiling it for speed. Then we work on sanitizing
and safety testing and finally on customizing the ui to fix the position
of the toolbar and better visually distinguish the edit view from the
normal page view.
8.1 Creole transition
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the visual editor deployment matures do we just deprecate wiki
creole as our internal page syntax?
* Converting existing pages
* Sanitize html input
+ What elements do we need/want to whitelist
- FSI docbook conversion materials
- Wikibook materials

See separate thread on ductus-developer list (as it's bound to get
pretty technical)

Looking at the third week of October but we won't have actual dates
until we finalize terms for working together.

We personally agreed on October 6th but that will not mean much until we
get a confirmed space reservation.

Forgot I had only half-finished that thought!
