Opinions Tab

How does Wikinews put the Opinions tab on pages like http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Wings_beat_Sharks_7-1?

I would like to add that to a Mediwiki install.  Is it an extension or just a tab added with a namespace into the skin.

Take a look at:  http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Comments.js

It is included from MediaWiki:Common.js via the line:
  importScript("MediaWiki:Comments.js");

It isn't exactly "user friendly" in terms of setting it up.  It also is obviously not as simple as an extension.  Along with the javascript you do need to add a Namespace to the wiki.  Instructions on that (if you need it):
