Professional - I have taught English and creative writing to middle school and high school students, have taught food in history to culinary students, and for the past ten years have taught information literacy skills, research strategies, social media, and LGBTIQ+ Studies to undergraduates at St. Cloud State University. I have over 20+ years of mentoring diverse populations in becoming better writers and researchers. As a librarian I assist students and faculty with research, copyright questions, and emerging technologies and social media.
Publishing - Peer reviewer for The Journal of Academic Librarianship since Fall 2017, Freelance editor and contributor to Blue Sky Editorial (formerly known as Golson Media) publications since 2011, Senior Editor and book reviewer for the Lambda Literary Foundation's book review site since 2006. Since 2006 I have written book reviews, encyclopedia entries, book chapters, and scholarly journal articles for LGBTIQ+ and feminist publications, academic library publications, and higher education journals.
Open - At my library I assist students and faculty in seeking permissions to upload content to our Institutional Repository, and currently am learning how to create PressBooks to teach faculty how to build their own open textbooks. I am aware of Creative Commons licensing and am looking forward to take their certification course for librarians once it is available. In 2017 I worked with a team of librarians at my campus to organize our first International Open Access Week activities to engage faculty in discussions about open textbooks and open publishing, as well as promote the Institutional Repository.

Professional - I am a Subject Librarian at Cal Poly Pomona. I teach a undergraduate for credit course on information and visual literacy. The final assignment for the course is improving or writing a Wikipedia article. I currently liaison (outreach) to the following departments and work with the faculty in these areas: Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Regenerative Studies, Graphic Design, Art History, Ethnic and Women's Studies and Foreign Languages. I have previous experience working with faculty in the Visual Arts department. I have 8 years experience in libraries and have published in peer reviewed journals and books and peer reviewed articles and book chapters. My previous career was in magazines and websites. My undergraduate degree is in writing and I studied art and art history.
Publishing - Writer and peer reviewer for the Art Libraries of North America (ARLIS/NA)'s [Art Documentation] and wrote for ARLIS/NA's [Multimedia and Technology Reviews] and [College and Research Libraries News]. I have a one peer reviewed book chapter coming out and one non peer reviewed book chapter on scheduled to be published next year. I am also working on another chapter for publication next year. In 2017, I was the editor of the Hip Hop Librarian Consortium's Hip Hop Librarianship Leaders of the New School.
Open - Through my work on the Simple Annual Planning Grant Committee, I communicate and provide feedback to chapters and user groups all over the world and as the the AfroCROWD LA coordinator, I provide outreach training and support to the community in LA.
