Hello!

My name is Philip Diaz. I'm a designer/builder in Los Angeles California. My interests lie at the intersection between robotics and architecture, so I was VERY excited when I found the wikihouse project.

I have two CNC routers: a 24"x24" desktop machine with a 1 hp Bosch Colt trim router; and a full plywood sheet 48"x96" machine with an additional 12" diameter rotational axis and a 3kw water cooled spindle. The large CNC router is based on the excellent "Mechmate" plans. The smaller one is based on the "Momus CNC" plans. Both machines use GeckoDrive 203v stepper drivers and LinuxCNC.

Having built the two CNC routers, I have a few ideas and suggestions for utilizing them in a construction setting, and ways to make them solid, accurate and more affordable.

I am quite happy to share what I've learned with anyone wishing to build their own routers.

I look forward to contributing to the wikihouse project in any way I can!

Welcome Phillip,

What kind of parts are you turning on that 4th axis?
