Dear Friends,

I thought I create this thread for Newcomers to the Teacher
Collaboration Portal and Forum, to give them an opportunity to
introduce themselves to our community. This way it is not so anonomous
and we learn about our colleagues. It will also help to find linkages
for teams to form that can help you and them along in planning and
developing new open educational resources.

So, dear friend, tell us who you are, where you are from, and what you
hope to get out of joining an open education forum. How can we link
you with our wonderful teacher community.

Please be mindful though, as over 900 people are reading all messages
and the flood can be overwhelming. In that case it would be greatly
appreciated, if you created a project page on WikiEducator directly,
you can link to. We will be more than happy to help you.

If you have never been involved with WikiEducator, I highly
recommend, you sign up for one of our free Learning4Content courses.
You can sign up here: http://www.wikieducator.org/Learning4Content/Registration

Warm regards,
Patricia

Hello everyone,

My name is Najma Agherdien and I am an Instructional designer at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. I have been lurking for about 10 months now but thought it was about time that I started participating actively. I am currently writing a collaborative article with a lecturer in the Social work department and we are exploring the use of reflective e-journaling in student learning. The idea is to improve on future use. Any thoughts, ideas. resources, etc would be much appreciated.

Thank you everyone for your willingness to share and collaborate.

Regards,

Hello Hollis
Greetings.

Nice to know about you. We are 'neighbours'...
I did my MSc with Organic Chemistry, specialisation in Reaction Mechanism and NMR Spectroscopy. Good to remember those days in the chem Lab. Later on I did my Doctorate in Educational technology.

well, IDCE does not offer Phd via Distance as of now. But IGNOU (where I was working till this June and am on leave for 2 years) has MPhil and PhD in Distance Education.

Dear Hollis,
greetings,

The MPhil in DE requires presence at IGNOU for two spell of  5days each. So, it can't be done from outside, without the student coming to IGNOU.
hope this clarifies. You may also like to see more details at http://www.ignou.ac.in/mphil/160809/mphiladvertise.htm

HI Wonderful 'Wikians',
My native name is KABUKI. I have always loved using web tools and the
likes. I completed a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology not too long ago
and actually haven't gotten myself involved in anything much apart
from my involvement in FREE Wiz-Iq classes (a product of wiki
educator) which are very instructive and interactive. You should try
being there if you haven't!
I have gained a lot of knowledge since I joined WIKI though I haven't
been actively involved. I hope to learn, give back what I have to and
can give, interact with GREAT MINDS, network with wonderful people
through whom I can gain a working livelihood and financial
independence and also gain great business deals and ideas as I am not
employed at the moment . I am very passionate about especially free
knowledge/education for ALL. Above all it is my fervent wish to be
part of the WIKI Dream when the final story is being told!

Best Wishes and happy collaboration,
Kabuki Ocansey

Dear Kabuki,
Welcome to our wonderful community of almost 1000 Educators around the world. Feel free to make use of this open platform after completing the 30th free Learning4Content course on WikiEducator, you are part of and starting on Monday, Sep 21 - Oct 2,2009 (http://www.wikieducator.org/Learning4Content/Registration). 100 people have already registered feeling just like you do, I am sure you will be inspired to start developing educational content that fits your surrounding and needs, to give back to the world.

A small correction out of fairness to Wiziq. Wiziq is not a product of WikiEducator, rather we use Wiziq to hold our one time Live meetings as part of our monthly Learning4Content courses we have been holding, to give participants the chance to ask their questions live, get inspired, receive some feedback and listening to a few presenters giving you a better understanding of what this all is used for and how.

All information can be found under the link above.

Warm wishes,
Patricia
