Dear Phil,
The wikiEd-page on alternative methods in the classroom has wonderful ideas to put into practice.
Well, I have one question. I teach English language and literature in English. I use several web 2.0 tools (Moodle, WikiEd, You tube, libri vox, e-groups, discussion forums, blogs, social networking sites etc). I can see that these tools have its effect on language class but so far as literature class is concern, I am doubtful. Can web 2.0 tool help in teaching literature? Isn't it killing the art of story telling, poetry recitation and enactment of drama? Isn't the imagination of students blunted in using ict tools?
Is there any research to prove the point on either side - helpful or harmful effect of ICT/Web 2.0 tool in teaching literature?

Hey, Dilip!

So good to hear from you.

This is exactly why we need a collaborative page on WikiEd about this topic.

People can put their concerns on it and others can make replies.

Seems to me that when you use ICT, the important part is to ensure
that you do it in a way that permits, nay requires, student
participation in a meaningful way.

I do not know about research, but why not put that question on the listserv?

To my mind, not only acting out a play, but also rewriting a play,
short story, novel, poem, to put it into a modern local context, done
by students, is exactly what is needed, and that can be done on line
by the students.
