Thanks, Kinnari for the timely update on C. elegans: we are having a workshop session on C elegans today at Sophias, Mumbai and  Sandhya Kaushika (NCBS) is with us, the whole day.

Yes, we are exploring the possibility of using undergarduate students in collaborative projects acrosss the country on doable/simple model systems. ( see Kasinanry's post on Parkinson model of C elgans from the Univ of Texas, cited in Science Daily.) Though a bit too small to visualize, C. elgans can be a fair candidate, with Kaushika type scientists joining us in the Undergraduate Collaborative  Research in India that we plan. Collaboration will overcome deficiencies of individual agents, isolated institutions like colleges or teachers/scientists

Incidentally, we have a found, through the good offices of Sandhya some one in Chennai, working on Computer Network Analysis on the Neural basis of Behavior, using C elgans system.
Hope, Johnson (HBCSE, TIFR Mumbai) will be glad to associate with this group. More on that later.

Cheers!
