new "tags", Textblock

hey all, brilliant program, use it every day. I was wondering if it's
possible to either:

1. define a new tag e.g. <code>
2. have a shortcut to insert a textblock.

The reason is simple.

I have some code which I want highlighted and not formatted so I use:

<table bgcolor="#9bd4de" border="0"><tr><td><<pre mycode>></td></tr></
table>

it would a lot easier to specify a new tag so I could just do:

<code>
my code
</code>

Whats the best way of doing this?
