How to unlock a wiki

out how to unlock it. Although I don't think they are related all of
a sudden I can't copy from wikdpad either. I tried telling it to
ignore the lock but that didn't work.

Do you mean this message:
"Wiki ... is probably in use by different
instance of WikidPad. Connect anyway (dangerous!)?"
If not, which one?

Independent of your particular problem I would really recommend to update to
a 2.1rc version (latest: 2.1rc09).

No the one that says "can't write to the database the database is locked"
I have done a little more digging and this is what happens.
When I launch wikidpad nothing happens but there is an instance
running (no visual indication, no window). I then click on the
launcher again and this time it opens up a window and gives me the
above message.
I close that instance and it gives another error message saying it
can't write to the database. The window sometimes does not close but
most of the time closes. The process is still running though. If you
open it up and close it multiple times you end up with multiple copies
running but no visible window.
I'll upgrade and see what happens.

Is there a "WikidPad_Error.log" file created in the configuration directory
(which can be found by using "Help"->"About" in the menu and scrolling the info
text down to the end)? If so, what is its content (at least the last few 100 lines)?
