I just updated my test server to Wikidot1, rev 215 and it seems
something is now broken with accessing private sites. I should mention
that I also did a database restore with data from my ~rev 39 database.
All seems to be working great, except I get "URL not found errors"
with my private sites. When I edit the "site" table with PGAdmin3 and
flip the private flag to FALSE, the sites are accessible.

Is there a chance something is broken with the fixes you're attempting
to make IE users happy?
Is there something I may have missed in my upgrade?

My company's wikidot server has nearly 200 users and a few hundred
pages, so I'd really like to figure out an easier way to get my
upgrade done instead of restoring everything from a wikidot backup
file (and forcing my users to recreate their accounts).

If you need more details, let me know and I'll I do some more fact-
finding.

Thanks,
Ed

Hi Ed,

Try to upgrade once more. Today the repo was really hot. Now the
situation should be quite stable.

But as we now concentrate on Lighttpd, private files will work with
Apache (sadly). We're planning to fix this and then release a 1.0
version of the opensource software.

Hope this helps a bit.

Regards,
Piotr

Do you mean "private files will [NOT] work with Apache..." or "private
[SITES] will [NOT] work with Apache..."?

I know little about Lighttpd. Is this something I should consider for
my server instead of using Apache?

In case no one has told you and the other developers lately, you guys
are going a great job with the flood of enhancements, tweaks and bug
fixes. I, for one, really appreciate your efforts.

Hi,

We are now concentrating only on Lighttpd, because we have MUCH work
(and Lighttpd is the primary webserver for the wikidot.com), but in some
time we'll get back, and make Wikidot work better with Apache as well.

But as we can follow the changes we've made, I can tell you that most
vital functionality should still work on Apache too. Files on Private
Wikis don't work with Apache. Private SITES should. I'm courious about
the error you get. I'll try to figure out what's with it and fix if
possible.

I'm really sorry our changes broke your service, but you know, we can't
predict everything.

I'll do a short howto on using Lighttpd soon.

And if we can't help your problem, you should probably revert to the 39
rev... (but please don't touch the database then).

You have not broken my service. My live install is still fine. I've
just been trying/testing the later revisions on another server so I
can upgrade at some point. This may or may not be related, but a few
of us are having problems with the latest revisions (since at least
204) with the login and create account links reporting a "page does
not exist error".

See this thread on www.wikidot.org:

Hi I am the OP of the thread quoted below. Which rev is ok to use?
Which rev is stable? Which rev does wikidot.com use? I just want to
get this thing running, and the forget about it really. Is there no
release tagged 'stable' ?
