Hi Elia ---
That's the spirit!!!! It's the wiki way :-).
Observing activity so far --- Belize is leading by example. Shawn has achieved her "Wikibuddy" status and have already encouraged colleagues from the University of Belize to sign-up for the next online workshop starting on Monday 25 November. Are the other countries up to the competition <smile>.
By way of inspiration --- you should take a look at what India have achieved. Four dedicated WikiEducators have succeeded in launching a formal WikiEducator Chapter for India (
http://www.wikieducator.org/India ). I had the privilege of joining the official launch last Friday at 1am Vancouver time! --- I include a copy of the launch text posted on the main list below. I'm sure that member countries from the Caribbean could do better!
I'll send a separate post to the list with details of the upcoming online workshop.
Cheers
Wayne
Copy of my post Re: The launch of WIkiEducator India --- a great example to improve upon.
Dr M.S. Swaminathan -- father of the Green Revolution in India and named one of the most influential Asians of the century by Time Magazine will officiate at the official launch of the Indian Chapter of WikiEducator. The respected Dr Swaminathan says:
"The launching of the Wikieducator India Chapter is a significant landmark in our goal to achieve
“Literacy for All” through
Sarva Sikshya Abhiyan. This pioneering initiative of the Commonwealth of Learning based on the principle of open and free access will mark the beginning of a new chapter in integrating e-learning with the traditional Indian educational value of considering knowledge as a common human heritage. I am confident that the launch of Wikieducator in India will accelerate the progress of a literacy and knowledge revolution in the country."
Shri. Jainder Singh IAS, Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology will also be in attendance for the formal launch of the India Chapter for WikiEducator.
Well done India!!!! You leadership is an inspiration for the rest of us. We hope that we too can "be the change you want to see in the world" (Mahatma Ghandi).
Cheers
Wayne
