Hey Team,

Long time, no see!  It seems May was somewhat of any off-month for us (especially myself) but fear not: we are going to be back and better than ever in June!  That being said, we have a time, date, and location for the next meeting, if y'all can make it.
  • Wednesday, June 23rd
  • 8:00pm - 9:30pm
  • The Palace of Touch
  • 1654 Grove Street @ Central
The formal agenda will be sent out before the meeting, but I have a couple of requests for our project gurus.  As you may remember, we have dwindled our yearly workload down to 4 ambitious projects.  Below are the projects we agreed upon, the project gurus for each of them and the associated next steps.  If gurus could start working on their next steps at this time and have something to report back at the meeting, that would go a long way toward making us the greatest working group in the history of the universe:
  1. Defining the route
    1. Project Gurus = Dave, Geoff
    2. Next Steps
      1. Plan "Wiggle Appreciation Day"
      2. Plan Monthly Chalk Graffiti Rides
  2. Transportation Symbiosis
    1. Project Guru = Ben
      1. Advocate for street improvements along route
        1. Come up with formal "Wigg Party" recommendations and attend community and city meetings to advocate changes
  3. Historic Landmark Status
    1. Project Guru = Morgan
      1. Figure out steps to turning Wiggle into Historic route
      2. Get fiscal sponsorship for Wigg Party to become officially recognized
  4. "Gateway to the Wiggle"
    1. Project Guru = Bryce
      1. Figure out steps to turning Market/Duboce into Pavement-to-parks project
Can't wait to see you guys next Wednesday!  Also, FYI, here is our official mission statement for those of you in the dark about what we as a working group actually do:

The Wiggle Transformation Committee, a working group of the Wigg Party, aims to promote the Wiggle bicycle route in San Francisco through projects focused on defining the space, highlight the route's history, and advocating for a more symbiotic relationship between modes of transportation along the path.  We also aim to transform the Wiggle through art and beautification projects and marketing campaigns that encourage a more sustainable and resilient community.

If you guys have any questions or concerns in regard to any of this, holler.  And I can't wait to see y'all soon.

-BK

PS - Two important meetings are coming up tonight and tomorrow for folks who are interested in streetscape changes in our area.  We need as much representation at these meetings as possible as a means of having an effective voice in implementing for bike and transit-friendly changes to our neighborhood's streets.  I will be at both and hope folks who are interested can make it.  Here they are:
