Hey Team,

I am writing to remind you that there is NO WiggTrans meeting this month in lieu of 2 VERY IMPORTANT meetings that you should attend instead happening tonight and tomorrow night.  What are they, you ask?  Well, I'm about to tell you!

Duboce Triangle Neighborhood Association meeting:
  • TONIGHT, Monday, August 9th
  • 7:00pm - 9:00pm
  • CPMC Davies - North Tower Building
  • Level B (basement) Auditorium
  • Between 14th St. and Duboce Ave. (@ Scott Street)
This meeting's main focus is going to be addressing two main things:
  1. The North of Market Neighborhoods Bike Plan (which is now being implemented since the bike injunction was lifted on Friday! Hurrah!)
  2. The Sean Elsbernd/Fix MUNI Now ballot initiative
    • this amendment targets the Transit Workers Union's non-negotiated pay (they are mandated to make the 2nd highest salary of any transit workers in the country) as well as their work rules (they currently are "on call" 23% of the time - far more than any other TWU in the country
    • Pros & Cons of amendment
      • the pros of this initiative are obvious (see above)
      • The cons of the amendment are that the SFMTA/MUNI are totally fucked right now and need real reform in a major way.  While the union's arcane work rules and unfair non-negotiable pay are part of the problem, they are FAR from the only problem.  By passing this initiative without addressing the bigger and more institutionalized problems with the SFMTA, we risk sweeping the rest of the greed and corruption under the rug by singling out and demonizing a union (which also happens to be one of the few majority minority unions in the city
Either way you you fall on the MUNI initiative, attending this meeting is a way to inform yourself on the issues and get your (and perhaps the Wigg Party's) voice heard on issues affecting our community!  I will be at another meeting but will show up at 8:30pm for the last half hour and look forward to seeing you there!

Masonic Avenue Streetscape Improvement 2nd Community Meeting:
  • Wednesday, August 11th
  • 7:00pm - 9:00pm
  • San Francisco Day School
  • 350 Masonic Ave @ Golden Gate
This meeting is even MORE important that we attend.  The city is holding 3 meetings on fixing Masonic and is relying pretty exclusively on the folks that show up to these meetings to gauge the community voice on whether to put in bike lanes, green space, etc on the new Masonic design.  The more of us who show up, the better Masonic will be!  You can read more about the meeting on the SFBC website HERE.  I will be at this meeting in full effect and hope to see everyone there!

CORRECTION:

The Masonic Avenue meeting is TOMORROW night, Tuesday, August 10th, at 6:30pm, at the San Francisco Day School (Masonic and Golden Gate).

Sorry for the confusion!

Fix Fell has got a planning meeting tomorrow night, so none of us can
make it. Can someone put out a mention for our A20 event?

Is anybodying going to DTNA meeting?  I can go tonight, due to a fluke, but I would need some of the materials and maps so that I could show your plan.  I'm not the best representative, but if no one else can make it, I'm in.
