"Wifi Roaming Fix" is my Hero App!

Unfortunately I am also stricken by Wifi Roaming issues (Sony Xperia XZ / Android 8.0.0), I need multiple access points to cover all of my building, and, when I roam my phone does cling to one distant Access Point far too long. Just to illustrate the problem: I can, reproducibly, move my phone close to one access point, where the signal is as strong as -46dB, and the phone will still try to cummunicate through a different AP coming in as low as -82dB. Same WLAN SSID, same Keyphrase, different channels.

This is when I fire up the "Wifi Roaming Fix" tool, and within seconds my phone connects to the correct access point. Unfortunately, like others have experienced too, the fix doesn't work in the background, I need to manually start it whenever I notice that my phone ran into the roaming issue again. Nevertheless the tool is a valuable workaround.

Sony support claims, they tested this scenario and found no roaming issues with my Xperia XZ, and blames the problem on my Wlan network. Must be "something" wrong with it, "somewhere". I dare to doubt, since a dozen other devices roam it without problems.

Is there more information available what the root cause of the problem is? A specific chipset, an Android isse, whatever?
