Last night i activated a cisco anyconnect license for 25 users on our ASA 5500. Immediately after i was unable to use the cisco anyconnect to vpn to our corp network. I was able to get in using the old cisco vpn client 5.x and I noticed i could not ssh to the ASA anymore either. I also noticed that our IPS module had been disabled.

Have you tried regenerating the RSA keys? If you are able to dig up the old activation key (perhaps you have a record of it in an old email or some such) then that will bring your IPS module back and you can then get a new one for AnyConnect that also includes the IPS module. Sending an email to lice...@cisco.com opens a TAC case with the licensing group.

after staring at old log files all day i found the old activation key! so it seems that they key i just got from cisco doesn't stack upon what used to be there as in adding the new features on but it adds the new feature and acts like the others never existed. So know where to find out how to fix that is my new adventure.

For Cisco ASA 5500 Series models, administrators are strongly advised to enable hardware processing instead of software processing for large modulus operations, such as 3072-bit certificates. Initially enabling hardware processing by using the crypto engine large-mod-accel command, which was introduced in ASA version 8.3(2), during a low-use or maintenance period will minimize a temporary packet loss that can occur during the transition of processing from software to hardware. For the Cisco ASA 5540 and ASA 5550 using SSL VPN, administrators may want to continue to use software processing for large keys in specific load conditions. If VPN sessions are added very slowly and the ASA device runs at capacity, the negative impact to data throughput is larger than the positive impact for session establishment.

Users can always make an informed choice as to whether they should proceed with certain services offered by Cisco Press. If you choose to remove yourself from our mailing list(s) simply visit the following page and uncheck any communication you no longer want to receive: www.ciscopress.com/u.aspx.

Support for IPsec Encryption with AES-GCM and IPsec Integrity with SHA-256, SHA-384, or SHA-512, requires ASA version 9.x. This support requirement applies to newer ASA devices. At the time of publication, ASA models 5505, 5510, 5520, 5540, 5550, and 5580 do not support these algorithms. Consult your VPN device specifications to verify the algorithms that are supported for your VPN device models and firmware versions.

The name "Cisco" was derived from the city name San Francisco, which is why the company's engineers insisted on using the lower case "cisco" in its early years.[citation needed] The logo is intended to depict the two towers of the Golden Gate Bridge.[19]

First, I'd like to thank this forum for making me aware of this keygen. Poor computer students worldwide appreciate it!Now, on to the important stuff.I am using a Cisco ASA 5505 with software version 8.2.5 and Device Manager Version 6.3.5. The system image file is 'asa825-k8.bin'. The device started off with a base license which only allowed 10 internal users and had all the other restrictions. IIT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO TYPE IN YOUR SERIAL USING THE CORRECT (UPPER) CASE INTO THE KEYGEN TOOL!You will notice your serial number contains both numbers and letters (at last mine did), the letters MUST be entered in the correct UPPER case, otherwise the tool will generate an incorrect (different) activation key.The file I used is 'Cisco.ASA5540.v8.2.1.Keygen.Only.Internal-SSG/keygen.exe' which came from the below site (currently still live), contained in 'asa55xx.lic.kg.rar' (8.17 KB).
