Umu Anambra

ASA-USA Financial Secretary Mr. Meshak Okpala has informed me that he received a check from Dr. Felix and Catherine Nwokolo for $500 and another one from Mr. Moses Onejeme for $100.  ASA-USA Medical Committee along with our folks back home are very grateful for the generosity shown by these folks. Dr. Nwokolo was a volunteer to the medical mission last year and worked extremely hard as he cared for his people. We are hoping he returns again this year.

May I also use this opportunity to appeal to other Town Unions, ASA-USA Chapters, Ndi Igbo and well-wishers to please respond to the call for help by our sick brothers and sisters back in Nigeria by donating today and make it possible for us to purchase our drugs and supplies and have them shipped to Anambra State ahead of the Medical Mission team. We are noticing a more profound disparity in people's ability to afford basic medical care. The need for our services can not possibly be greater, those joining the ranks of poor and deprived are at all time high and folks at home are waiting for our arrival. We urge you to rise and support those who have no capacity to repay you or even to say "thanks". Your reward comes from our maker.

My group, Anambra State Association, USA (ASA-USA), a  non profit association founded on the promise of assisting the poor, needy or less privileged in our society. From August 5th thru 23rd 2010 we shall be embarking on a medical mission to Nigeria . As you are aware, thousands are dying daily as a result of poor or no medical attention. Children are going to bed hungry, to school without proper immunization, and to local health centers that lacked equipment and supplies. People, young and old die from preventable diseases.

ASA-USA realizing the value of this project, understanding clearly the impact it will have on thousands of children is totally committed and will spare no effort or expense humanly possible to see this project successfully implemented. We are therefore asking for your support, wishing that you feel the way we do and support this project in any way possible. To carry out this mission successfully, we need your assistance in the following areas:

Personnel: Medical professionals: Physicians, Pharmacists, Registered Nurses, Dentists, Social Workers, Oncologists, Radiologists and Educators.

Drugs and Equipment: All drugs and medical equipment such as syringes, needles, alcohol swabs, band aids, bandages, gauze, dressing supplies, tongue depressors, basic suture supplies, stethoscopes, basic sphygmomanometers, ophthalmoscopes, otoscopes, thermometers, pen lights, testing kits, glucometers, q-tips, cotton balls, EKG machines, NSAIDS, analgesics, wound cleansing supplies, writing materials, eye charts, clip boards, health educational supplies and more.

Cash Donation: To cover drugs, travel, room and board and other miscellaneous expenses.. By this medical mission, let’s open our hearts and wallets and distinguish ourselves by showing that we care. Let us show and extend our blessings to our less privileged brethren in Africa . Please kindly make your Tax Deductible Donation check payable to ASA-USA Medical Missions and send it to
