Good questions. Let me take the second first.
2. I guess this is as good a time as any to announce this, but I am
going to release a beta version of the JavaFX 1.0 WidgetFX dock on
Monday 12/15. The coding is mostly done, so it is just a matter of
testing and releasing everything. Anyone who is interested in getting a
head start can try out the new dock here:

1. Drag-and-drop support is definitely in the pipeline. You should be
able to hook into the Java DnD support and just have it work, but since
I haven't tested it I can't say it is supported. Please add this to the
Google Project issue tracker so it gets officially supported.
