WINTER WEATHER UPDATE

Summary: As I predicted, a winter weather advisory has been issued for the DC area, and forecast appear to be panning out so far. Main details and changes below:

Timing: Currently, we expect snow to start in the 2-3PM period, and accumulations really start picking around 4PM. I expect everything to end in DC by 7-8PM.

Accumulations: Confidence in an inch remains fairly high, around 60%, with still small chance of 2 inches, around 25%.

Impacts: 2-4PM roads could start to become slippery, with the most hazardous period being from 4-8PM when traffic will likely be slowed and travel impaired.

Action Plan: Previous action statements remain generally valid, besides the slight shifts in timing. Try to stay off the roads and plan extended time for trips, especially during the 4-8PM period, especially on secondary roads.
