SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK-047B-UPDATE-2:
Nowcast: First off, the biggest major change is that we do indeed have a strong line of storms left over from yesterday that is indeed approaching our area, and should arrive around the immediate DC metro by 9:30AM. While not as intense as the storms that are possible later today, it could bring some gusty winds, as well as dangerous lightning, so please try to stay indoors while it passes.
This Afternoon: This event early in the day does, as I mentioned earlier, will also act to potentially decrease our severe weather potential later in the day by ushering in a cooler airmass and the attendant cloud cover blocking the heating by the sun necessary to fuel storms. However, if skies can manage to clear by around noon or so, we still have a significant chance of some severe weather--mainly strong winds from storms, but some hail from the strongest cells and potentially even a weak tornado are both possibilities. I expect the period from 3-7PM to present the greatest threat, with storms clearing the area for sure by 9PM.
Thanks, and please stay safe out there!
