Thanks for signing up! MESSAGE Below, I have provided a brief rundown of the major WIDEnet email products--the general focus of each, when and why they are issued, and their basic format. Note the 3-letter product code of each, as it will be the first three characters of the subject line of the email product for quick identification.

Basic Product Categories

Outlook: (2-3 per week) Provides a full, general overview of the potential, timing, and impacts of the hazard discussed by the product.
Update: (1-3 per outlook) A brief, one-paragraph update on a possible or imminent event, discussing relevant changes to the Outlook.
NOW: (1-3 per outlook) Similar to an update, Near-term Operational Weathercasts provide more short-term forecast information for imminent or ongoing events.
ALERT: (<1-2 per month) The hazard discussed in the product poses an immediate threat to life and property. It would probably be a good idea to look at these.

Products (Each outlook has associated Updates, NOWs, and ALERTs, following the above format)

LWO-Local Weather Outlook: (1-2 per week, usually Sat. and Tue/Wend.) Flagship product of the WIDEnet, gives an overview of the weather for the next 7 days, as well as detailed day-by-day forecasts and an extended outlook. Possible hazards will also be included, along with, (so my sources tell me), rather witty commentary.
SWO-Severe Weather Outlook: (3-6 per month during severe weather season, May-Sept.) Issued when severe storms are possible within the next 3-5 days, with information on threats (wind, hail, tornadoes, flash flooding, etc.), timing, and actions to take.
WWO-Winter Weather Outlook: (2-4 per month during winter) Relates information regarding the potential for a winter weather event up to 7 days in advance.
TWO-Tropical Weather Outlook: (1-2 per month from Aug. to Oct.) Issued when there exists a potential for a Tropical Cyclone (TC) to impact the area in the next 5 days, with detailed, categorized impact information (winds, rainfall/river flooding, tidal flooding, and tornadoes).

NHO-Non-Precipitation Hazard Outlook: (<1 per month) Issued when high winds, major coastal flooding, extreme hot/cold temperatures, or other dangerous conditions not associated with the above events may occur within the next five days.
MCO-Monthly Climate Outlook: (1-2 per month, issued the weekend after the third week of each month, update on first day of month) Provides a brief projection of the average temperature and precipitation anomalies (above/below normal) for the coming month.
SCO-Seasonal Climate Outlook: (1 per month, same as first above) The same as above, but for and focusing on the next 3 months and associated seasonal impacts to the area.

If you find the WIDEnet useful, be sure to inform your friends and colleagues so they may benefit as well. Feel free to use any or all of this email however you like. Thank you!
