WINTER WEATHER UPDATE
Summary: The event looks to be less than the NWS predicted before, as I anticipated, and impacts will be fairly minor. Still, I recommend caution when driving, especially late this afternoon and evening.
Timing: Snow will begin to mix in during the 4-6PM hour, and end by 10PM, with the heaviest snow in between.
Accumulations: Although the NWS is forecasting 1-2 inches, Alexandria looks to receive about an inch of snow according to my estimates.
Impacts: Roadways should be even less of a problem than previously predicted, but I do expect some accumulations, perhaps up to a half inch around DC, which is most likely to fall in the 6-8PM timeframe. However, we could see slick roadways by around 4PM, so please exercise caution when driving. I doubt we'll see any significant effect on transportation tomorrow, however.
This event wasn't the big snowstorm that some were trumpeting, but please do be careful and enjoy the event.
