SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK - BRIEFING

Primary Threat(s): Scattered strong winds and isolated hail from a line of thunderstorms

Locations Impacted: Areas south and west of Baltimore

Time of Threat: This afternoon and evening, from around 5-10 PM, most likely from 7-9PM.

Discussion: We have a chance of some severe weather today as a line or clusters of storms moves through our area. Although we should see spots of rain across the area, the strongest storms will likely remain near or south-soutwest of DC. The biggest threat is strong winds as these storms pass, but we could see some hail as well, especially with strong, more isolated storms. Storm coverage will not be extensive, especially due to the main limiting factor of heavy cloudcover preventing heating by the sun. We might well see only a little rain, if that. However, if storms do form, they will most likely pass through from east to west around 7-9PM, although we could see a few popup cells by around 5PM and perhaps a few nonsevere thunderstorms after that time. Expect strong winds along the line as it passes, and if you see lightning or hear thunder, along with darkening skies moving rapidly toward your location, please check your local news sources and the WIDEnet and prepare to take shelter until the storm passes.

Updates: Threat update 6:00PM, Nowcast Updates 5-10PM if necessary

Stay safe and stay tuned for more on this developing situation.
