Benodig inligting ivm die generator .Phil ek sien op ander forum jy het 3 SUN FLAME lanterns , so jy het idee wat binne moet wees . Hierdie een was vol van een of ander materiaal .  So styf gestop dat naald nie eers wou beweeg . Met groot gesukkel kon ek dit uitkry . Lyk vir my na asbes of iets soort gelyks . Dit maak nie sin om die die generator te isoleer , jy wil tog so veel as moontlik hitte oordrag bewerkstellig . Kan iemand my raadgee asb . Indien moontlik foto of twee . Dankie by voorbaat .Gerrit .

The asbestos tube or filler, springs, etc are there to prevent the Leidenfrost effect.

I hope this helps you.

I collect the Coleman 290 series lanterns
and the usual, unusually ones.

As John rightly said, Gerrit, the asbestos is not used as an insulator but just like on white gasoline lanterns helps the fuel to evaporate more evenly in the tube and also acts as a filter for the jet.
If you intend using only paraffin, you can replace the asbestos rope stuffing with brass (or copper) spirals like in the Coleman 249 generator.
Look after that gennie, they are virtually impossible to find.

Wow! Google have really stepped up their game with the translation from Afrikaans! A vast improvement on how it was in the past.
