Dua Lipa's style has always intrigued me, mainly because she consistently looks great. She is known for being what the fashion girls call a full-look baby. Some might see this as a bad thing, but as someone prone to buying the replica of looks I find online and then figuring out how to mix and match them into my closet later, I was ready to give Dua Lipa my best try. To recreate the Dula Peep essence (Thank you for the memes, Wendy Williams), I spent several weeks of this process stuck in no man's land, also known as Google. Since Lipa tends to wear many outfits directly off the runway, finding replicas was tough in general, and on top of that, finding anything remotely similar in my size was demoralizing. I laid out seven looks for this edition of CTRL+C. Very ambitious, yes, I know, but there were just so many Dua 'fits that I wanted to try out, and I couldn't dwindle it down. As you'll see once you scroll down, there are actually only five looks in this CTRL+C installment, and that is because two looks were not even able to be attempted. There was nothing, zero, nil, nada on the plus-size side of the World Wide Web that would even come close to resembling them, which was quite frustrating, mostly because I thought I'd look good in all of them. (Sorry, pals, we missed out!) But alas, fat bodies aren't granted the same freedoms when it comes to fashion.

For a week, I tried to recreate a few of my favorite Dua Lipa looks as closely as I could as a plus-size woman. There were some failures (three specifically that I will never let go of and might bitterly bring up for the next three installments of this series, so...you've been warned!) and some wins. Overall, it was incredibly fun, so I'd say it was a definite success. Whether you are looking for inspo or simply here for the rise, here are some plus-size-approved options if you are looking to channel your inner Dula Peep soon.

I was so excited to attempt this look because it feels so quintessential to my personal style. It's exactly how I like to dress in my day-to-day life, and thankfully, a lot of the pieces in the look were easy to get. The coat and ribbed T-shirt are from Good American. The boots are from Fashion to Figure. The skort is from Cider, and while it got the job done, I was really frustrated trying to find a plaid skirt similar to hers. There just weren't any online during the hours I spent perusing. Nothing I came across was pleated. On top of that, if they found a nice plaid skirt, it was never mini, which was quite annoying.

It seems like the simpler an outfit is, the harder it is to escape the grasp of fast fashion and find affordable, lasting plus-size options. Leather mini-dresses exist. I saw them when scrolling through ample amounts of straight-size options. Unfortunately, leather mini dresses do not exist in plus sizes, and if they do, it's the God-forsaken fit-and-flare. I am not against the fit-and-flare. It personally sits as my go-to dress style, but I can't help but wonder if we've been forced into it by the plus-size retail market.

For the past full year, I've loved doing this series, but it's also a constant reminder of everything lacking within plus-size fashion. It also makes me hate shopping. I'd love to go online and find exactly what I'm looking for when I type it into Google, but that is quite literally not the case even days away from 2024. And before you come for my Google skills, don't. No matter how hard I try to describe the item, I always come across several cute options, click on the site, and see only S-M-L." When you add in the words plus-size," you'll get nothing remotely similar. It's almost as if when adding in the word plus-size, the search engine explodes and just gives me cold shoulders, floor-length skirts, and empty promises.

When deciding the length of your shirt, you should also consider what is going to look flattering. If you carry more weight in your upper body and your jeans hold the bottom of your stomach, consider having your shirt cover that area for a more flattering look. It could be your pants are a bit tight in the seat and thighs if your lower stomach is well defined in your pants.

Not only is layering fashionable, but its great for plus size men. Jackets pull everything together and create vertical panels for a more streamlined look. Jackets make a person look more stylish anyway, so as soon as fall rolls around, layer away.

Have fun with things like patterned socks, bracelets, hats, belts, suspenders, cool backpacks, shoes and scarves. These little details are what makes someone appear stylish. Even if you want to wear dark colors, adding in accessories makes you look more modern and fun.

Get a dose of inspiration from plus size guys making moves on instagram. This is great way to see how people are wearing different pieces and how they look on them. The point is get inspired and ideas on what you can add to your style.

Cardigan and low ankle booties plus a hat. Staying true to Fall style with a cardigan and a hat. You could really do anything with the shoes, but ankle booties are one of my fave shoes for this time of year.

I feel so drained this week. I was already feeling like our back-to-back wedding weekends were a doozy, and now the current world events have me feeling really down. I’ve had to step away from social media and limit my time spent online.

I’m not someone who typically listens to fashion podcasts, but I recently followed Allison Bornstein for fashion advice, and when I saw she was on an episode of the Liz Moody Podcast, I obviously had to listen! I’ve been recently trying harder to focus on my personal style, and I love the tips Allison gives. She encourages self-expression and exploration while also giving useful, overall tips on how to style. Plus, Liz asks the questions we are all wondering, as usual.

I saw Michael Tchao’s Charred Tomato Chimichurri on Instagram and was instantly smitten. I love charred tomatoes, and I love chimichurri, so how could I not make this? Michael’s version is amazing, but I made my own slight tweaks in this version! I left out the jalapeño and scallion (although will definitely be trying next time), and just stuck to parsley and cilantro in my recipe.

1. Preheat oven to 450 F. Add tomatoes to an oven-safe dish, and poke with a fork. Drizzle on some olive oil, season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of crushed pepper, and transfer to the oven. Bake until tomatoes have begun to char, about 30 minutes. Mine didn’t start to chart until about 35 minutes, but depending on your oven, it could be earlier, so start checking at 25 minutes.

With that being said, I know several pizza operations who do very well selling NY style pizza slices, or just pizza by the slice in general. Have you possibly thought about that angle? There are also several pizza operations who do very well with a buffet style pizzeria. Have you thought of that angle?

That is one of the angles I am looking. NY style dine ine/carry out. Pretty much the only thing you find in the Cinci area is the big chains and smaller chains trying to make the same stuff the big boys are. Would offer Ny style pizza and sicilian pizza. along with some sandwiches , calzones and salads. Sell pizzas by the slice or whole.
Break even seems to be around 4kish so far which is a good chunk of slices and ppl buying your pizzas at a higher cost. Mostly have to educate people that you use better stuff then the big boys. Thats why you charge more. There is a local small chain in this area that does NY stlye and does well. They have a cpl of stores near Campuses and rock those places. Also the others are close to high traffic areas and local business to get foot traffic. Good part is you dont have to have as many employees. 2 at lunch maybe 3 or 4 at night. Make then order and pick up at counter makes it so you dont have to hire Waitresses. Would have to stay open from 11am-9pm in what I am looking at.

The other model is to cave and do what Papa Johns use to do. Just pizza. Go Del/co make a slightly cheaper product then above charge a cheaper price. Just Pizza, bread sticks and chesse sticks. But with haveing drivers and more phone/counter and make ppl your labor will be almost dbl. But you will do alot more volume at first since this is what most of america is programed to. The key is to get them with an ok product as long as the price is comparable to the big guys. Looks like 6k is break even for me in my area for this. Rent will be cheaper but labor will be hirer. Plus with this model I would go with conver. ovens instead of a deck in nY style. Plus I would get a POS system rightaway doign Del/co isntead of just a cash register in Ny stlye. looking ot only be open 4-10 at first.

I am way more comfortable in a del/co setting since i managed in all the big 3. But love the product and style of the NY Style places.
AS J rokk said. You dont want to be doing 2k in a place you need 4k to break even. It seems like that might be the case till a dine in/CO place gets enough word of mouth and you mailing menus to get ppl in.
I worry in a NY style that the break even point will take longer to get to. Once you get there tho you will set yourself apart from the big boys quite well.
Its the big dilema i face in thinking what i want to do. MY wife loves me so much for spending alot of nights talking in circles on pros and cons of each lol. Thank God she was in the pizza bus to and just doesnt look at me with a blank look.

If you are like me and into Scandinavian style but wish to understand a bit more what is behind this style. Plus and easy to grab guide on how to get this design then take a look at our Scandinavian interior design guide.

Late to the party apparently! While busy with moving offices and family health issues, I have been mostly off the internet - this morning, i thought I'd check in and see if the dprevived site was still going and if any of the competitor replacements for Dpreview were doing better. So of course, I was rather surprised to find Dpreview had returned while I was away!
