Carroll University and the Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium are excited to invite high schools across Wisconsin to participate in the 5th Aerospace Jam drone high school competition. This event is co-sponsored by NASA and the Milwaukee Bucks.
Note: There is no fee for the competition.
This year's theme focuses on the Mars Sample Return mission initiative. Teachers and mentors will receive a detailed document outlining the competition. Students will utilize Raspberry Pi computers and sensors to collect mission data through Python programming.
By mid-October, 2025, participating teams will receive a drone and sensor kit. Teams will build a data-collecting platform for a simulated Mars mission. From October 2025 to April 2026, teams will have access to monthly meetings and online technical support. The all-day competition is scheduled for Friday, April 10, 2026 at the Milwaukee Bucks’ Fiserv Forum. You and your team will receive free Milwaukee Bucks tickets for the 7pm game that evening.
Teams typically consist of 3-8 students. You can have more than one team compete.
