AP Computer Science Principles Create Performance Task - Letter to Student

Fellow AP Computer Science Principles Teachers:

I'm seeking to determine if any of your students received a letter from the College Board regarding the “authenticity” of their written responses on the Create Performance Task. Specifically, a letter was sent to one of my students with the following language:

The student is provided three options to respond to the letter:

I’d like to provide guidance to this student regarding their response to the College Board. In this particular student’s situation (“authenticity” related to written responses on the Create Performance Task), I’m highly confident the written responses are their own work (it’s extremely difficult for the work to not be their own). While they collaborated on a team of two for the Create Performance Task, they documented/annotated their individual contributions as required by the CPT’s guidelines.

If you’re aware of any of your students receiving such a letter from the College Board, I’d be interested in the guidance you’re providing to the student.

Hi Chad,

I am sorry to hear about this.  Have you looked at the Written Response of the student, and the Written Response of the partner?  Each student had to submit a different written response.  Is there any chance that someone else could have submitted the same Written Response as this student?

Also, did the student mention receiving any help from anyone other than a student in the Written Response? This would also raise a red flag.
