Hi all,

The Arcade library is looking for two (2) teen volunteer facilitators who could help run our weekly Coding Club during the 2025 – 2026 school year!  This year’s facilitators will be graduating in June and we’d like to start the program back up again in September.  Although it’s a drop-in event, we have several regulars and have enjoyed getting to know each participant!

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Meet every Wednesday from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. with participants aged 8-13 (parents often stick around as well) and introduce different aspects of coding to them through games, websites, specific programs, etc. (the facilitators would work with me to develop the specifics)
  • Start date:  September 3
  • End date: May 20
  • No meetings on October 8, November 19,  December 24 and 31, February 18, or April 22 (additional days off are possible, just talk to me first)
  • Laptops, whiteboards, and a projector are provided

A library staff member (usually me) would be in the room with you to manage any behavioral issues and answer any library-related questions.  The library staffer would also set up before and clean up after each meeting.  At minimum, you would just need to work on outlines for each meeting, arrive prepared at each meeting, and be familiar with both computer coding and working with kids.

Interested?  Have questions?  Please respond to this email by Saturday May 31.  Feel free to share this with any teens who might be interested, and thanks for considering!

Best,

Molly Milazzo (she/her)
