Hi All,

We came across a report from National Knowledge Commission some time back where some recommendations were made to the Prime Minister in order to strengthen the engineering education in India. Although, this appears quite evident and at higher level these changes are mandatory, lets talk at the grass-root level, what engineering students and professionals think at this level. Please be diligent in answering your questions as we might publish this small opinion on our website with names and references mentioned.

RECOMMENDATIONS FROM NKC - http://www.knowledgecommission.gov.in/recommendations/engineer.asp
1. Reforming the Regulatory Framework
2. Improving Governance of Institutions
3. Attracting and Retaining Faculty
4. Curriculum Reform
5. Integrating Sciences and Engineering Education
6. Encouraging Research
7. Industry-academia interaction
8. Improve access to colleges in under-provided states
9. Mentoring - Elite institutions should mentor other instituitions

ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS PLEASE -

1. How do you find yourself in terms of your curricular, extra-curricular, co-curricular and overall personality development since you joined your college?
2. Do you have an inclination towards research? If yes, does your college provides enough resources to pursue your interest? If no, what is your interest area?
3. If your interest area is to join industry, does your college provides enough exposure to prepare you to face challenges of outside world?
4. Do you have access to internet? And are using it to enhance your knowledge of outside world?
5. Do you think your faculty has adequate experience in imparting their knowledge to you? Do you think it can be improved?

We understand these questions are very subjective, but it will be very useful to understand these challenges. We would like to bring up these issues so that a Top-Bottom and Bottom-Top analysis can be done understand the gap and creative ways to fill them.

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Regards,
Yogi
