Please join us here for the committee meeting. If you haven't already
done so, please review the post where Laura stated all the available
places and rates, so we can discuss these!

Thanks!

Please post so I know you are here. I am reviewing the information
Laura has provided and want to make sure we all agree that Seascape
Resort won't work for us because they aren't available during June and
July.

I agree about Seascape. I like the price Of Embassy, but Seaside is a
little far out to drive. What does everyone else think?

To me 30 minutes isn't much... but then I travel 45 minutes all the
time to go shoppint (each way). I am also traveling from NM for this,
so another 30 mins no big deal. I wouldn't more worry about hotels in
the area.

Seascape isn't available? That's a bummer because it's awesome! The
company I used to work for had all of our Christmas parties there.
Seaside really isn't far to drive. I was talking to a friend of mine
who graduated from WHS in '84 and they had theirs at one of the Hotels
in Monterey. She said it was really nice. It's not so bad if it's at a
hotel and you can stay. That's what's really appealing.

I didn't attend the 11 year, but I have been to several events at San
Juan Oaks. I think the Embassy Suites is a little nicer, and since
it's pretty close to Monterey, it might be more appealing to people.
Not sure though.

That's why I like the Coconut Grove. The price is good, and there are
lots of other cool things to do in Santa Cruz. There are hotels very
close by.

San Juan Oaks is nice, but so far from everything. Coconut Grove is
OK, but a little "played out"... no??? I haven't been to the Embassy
in Seaside, but hear it's really nice too. If I had to vote between

the issue of accomodations. We don't really have anything above a 1

Yes, I can send out the letters and get reimbursed later. I will also
e-mail you a copy. I think it should contain the date, location,
deposit amount - but also I think we're going to need to know a
ballpark figure of the final ticket price. I don't think people will
want to send in their $25 non-refundable deposit and find out later
that the final ticket price is $125 per person or whatever it may be.
Some people may be OK with that, but other's may not. So I think we're
going to have to kind of figure that out now. Don't you???

I will ask Laura to book the Embassy for us on June 21st. I will see
about a block of rooms there and in any other local hotels where we
can get a less expensive rate. June 22 will be the picnic for
families. I plan to have this at a nominal charge, as I don't want it
to get expensive. Some have asked for it to be catered, but we'll
have to see about pricing.

Last and not least I will be asking for a deposit of $25 per person.
If we get 100 people, we will have 2,500 to start off. Then we can
set the price and have people sign up later. We will probably have a
'less' deposit (say $5/person) for picnic only, so we can still get a
head count.

Anyone against this?

We will figure a per person price based on everything and go with it.
We should have some numbers from the last reunion. Laura does this
