Hi Everyone,  looking forward to seeing you all soon!
In the meantime, I've discussed with many of you the issue of how to prepare our teenagers for anti Israel sentiment on college campuses. In fact, we had a couple sessions on this in Snowbird last year. Rob spoke to Benji's hebrew high school graduating class in the spring and then (after several requests) decided to make it available more widely. He's recorded this 12 minute video for parents and students to watch together or separately. Hope you find it helpful, as the Adas students did, and please forward to others (individuals or organizations) for whom this would be of interest.
Thanks very much.
Jennie

Navigating the Complex (and Often Scary) Politics of Israel on Campus: Advice from a Parent

The classrooms and quads of North American college campuses may be far from the battlefields of the Middle East, but that doesn't stop them from being the setting for harsh, bitter disputes over Middle East politics, often driven by the global anti-Israel campaign called BDS -- the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement.

In this video, Washington Institute

Executive Director Robert Satloff offers parents and students practical advice on how to address anti-Israel activism on campus and engage constructively on the politics of the Middle East.

Dr. Satloff, the Institute's Howard Berkowitz Chair in U.S. Middle East Policy and himself the parent of a college freshman, explains that while the campuses generally remain safe, healthy environments, discussion on the Middle East is often hijacked by extremists who advocate nice-sounding ideas that are tantamount to calling for the destruction of the State of Israel. He recommends specific ways for students to get informed about whether their professors endorse the BDS agenda and to apply the "Three C's Test" for productive dialogue: debate should be factually Correct; facts should be offered in their proper Context; and the arguments should be Constructive.

An historian who is a longstanding observer of the academic world in the United States and abroad, Dr. Satloff offers useful ideas and helpful resources for parents and students looking for help in combatting anti-Israel activity on campus.
