Dear Board Members,
As is our tradition, JFNA has opened a mailbox to raise funds for relief for the Houston Jewish community. We will open our local mailbox tomorrow and, by email, ask our community to participate.
This is the third time in the past two years that Houston has been hit with flood waters. This time, of course, the storm brought winds and other factors besides just rain. The heart of the Jewish community of Houston is along bayous in Meyerland, Bellaire
and Braeswood.
Lee Wunsch, the CEO of the Houston Federation, has been in touch regularly over the weekend. He indicated that the effects of the rains and floods will be in the rebuild effort. We are not currently aware of any extreme cases where evacuation or injuries
have not been dealt with appropriately with resources provided by the local government, state government or FEMA. They are coordinated their JFS and JCC as hubs of services and gathering spaces for recovery efforts. Please feel free to share this information
prior to our email blast tomorrow to the community.
Thanks,
Mark and Bradley
