Hi Everyone --
Wanted to share the exciting news that Manuel just received AIPAC's very prestigious Jon Barkan New Leadership Network Award, an honor given to only one person nationally who demonstrates particularly exemplary leadership, commitment and effectiveness with respect to advocating on behalf of the US-Israel relationship.
AIPAC's New Leadership Network is a small, invitation-only cohort of AIPAC activists from around the country who agree to devote substantial time and financial resources to building relationships with and educating newer members of congress about the importance of the US-Israel alliance. Not surprisingly, soon after Manuel joined NLN in 2012, he was asked to take on a Vice Chair role for the network and was quickly recognized as one of the most engaged and capable activists in the organization. Notably, while many NLN activists focus their efforts only nationally, Manuel doubled-down on his leadership and increased his commitment to pro-Israel politics locally as well - taking on the incredibly important role as the Dallas Political Chair and leading the group here who ensures we have great relationships with all of the members of the congressional delegations from our region.
We should all shlep some real nachas that a member of Dallas 13 received this honor, even moreso considering that the award is a namesake of another WHP alumnus, Jonathan Barkan. Jon was another incredible pro-Israel activist and a major leader in AIPAC and the Atlanta Jewish community who passed away in 2007 at the age of only 39. AIPAC created this award in his memory and in recognition of the great impact he'd had even at such a young age.
Kol hakavod to Manuel -- looking forward to seeing everyone soon! (hopefully on June 8th for Jay's installation, if not before)
