Hi everyone,

My name is Renee and I am just starting a very small retail
business. It is in the corner of a hair and nail salon and I really
have very little space. So far I have a good size shelving unit with
my jewelry displayed on it. It doesn't look too bad. I've used
scarves, etc. to lay the merchandise on and I also have a black velvet
T Stand to hang some necklaces and bracelet's on. I have one more on
order along with a ring display. Any ideas on how to better display
my items? I would like for it to look a bit more professional.

Dear Renee--Congratulations on your new venture!  Do you have a showcase or just shelves?  With a showcase, mirrors always add a professional touch.  It makes everything look shinier-more bling!

 

The scarves are a good idea and so is the black velvet.  Lay the jewelry out symetrically (what you do on one side, do on the other).  Switch it around often so the customer doesn't think it's the same old-same old.  In other words, the customer gets in the habit of seeing a certain item in the same spot and pretty soon (s)he just glazes over your items thinking there's nothing new.

Renee, whatever you do sign up for the publication "New Age Retailer", the
retailers "bible" that comes out free every quarter. They have great ideas
for display, along with amazing information in general. Google New Age
Retailer for info.
