With17 years of exceptional concerts under its belt, the Blue Jay Jazz Festival announces its biggest and boldest lineup yet. Friday, August 23 brings the extraordinary jazz guitarist Lee Ritenour to the Festival stage:
Saturday, August 24, the Jazz Salon, in a more intimate setting at Lake Arrowhead Resort, presents John Proulx, a Grammy-winning singer, pianist, composer and music educator. His smooth and velvety style is reminiscent of bebop sensation Chet Baker.
While at Berklee, I majored in Music Production and Engineering. This experience taught me both the ins and outs of the music industry, from understanding the financial picture, to the technical details of pro audio equipment, to the artistic subtleties of producing, arranging, and crafting a mix. A few examples of my projects include:
I did an internship at Blue Jay Studio in 2001-2002 right when it was sold from the original owner, Bob Lawson, to Marcus Siskind and Kevin Richardson (from the Backstreet Boys). While several big named artists, such as Aerosmith, Jay Giles, and Lady Gaga, recorded there, I wasn't around for those sessions, although I did a couple sessions with Phil Greene (known for recording and mixing the New Kids on the Block).
I was a staff engineering at Longview Farm Studios in North Brookfield, MA, from 2002-2004. This studio was a residential studio, isolated from the city, where the musicians would stay througout the session. I worked as a staff engineer on projects including Mos Def, Hanson, Blondie, Thursday, Pascifier, Brides of Destruction (Nikki Sixx), and (my favorite, musically speaking) Blonde Redhead.
While I was mostly given the title as an "assistant engineer" on most projects and given limited control over the artistic and sonic landscape, I undertook several projects as both producer or engineer. Notably, the Jon Frederik band, Dave's Gone Mad, Joe Summer and others.
BLHeli_32 ESC firmware allows you to play music with ESC by uploading custom startup tones to each ESC. You can now form a band with the 4 motors in your quadcopter and play a cool tune when powering up your drone.
One of the greatest features of BLHeli32 is that you can create unique startup music! You can even load different musical lines to each ESC and play a polyphonic tune on your mini quad, and it can sound like a band playing :) How awesome is that?!
So once you have setup music in one of your quads, you can save the music as a script. Enter a name for the script (step 1) and hit the save button (step 2). You will be prompted to save the script file somewhere on your computer (step 3).
Hi Oscar,
I created a tool for converting Bluejay Music to BlHeli_32 and back. If you want to include it in this, or in the bluejay tutorial, the URL is:
The tool also allows transposing the music to adjust the music to the different pitch ranges of both systems. It allows you to speed the music up or slow it down with just a click.
Hi Oscar. I stumbled on this article today. I have the same question as Freddy.
The devs are talking about the length of custom esc tones being a problem with bidirectional dshot.
Any info on that?
Hi Oscar, since betaflight has bidirectional dhsot for RPM filtering, are startup melodys still save to use?
Why do the bf devs recommend to stay with the standard melody? What makes a melody critical?

Ben told me in 1998 thatDarren Jessee (BF5'sdrummer) is a vegetarian. Vegetarianism and evenveganism are a lot more common now than they were in the 90s, so propsto Jessee for being ahead of the curve on that one. Othervegetarian musicians include as Paul McCartney, Prince,Madonna, Natalie Merchant, and a host of others (including many you'venever heard of, like me). Get the scoopon meatless diets on my VegetarianGuide site.
The BlueJay, is an amp that got its name not from its feathered friend by the same name but rather from the fact that it can be a great companion for Blues and Jazz. Its warm clean tones are reminiscent of the classic amps that came out of California all those years ago. It can do more than clean though, it can also deliver rich overdrive tones that make you want to play those pentatonic licks all day long.
The amp operates with a single 12AX7 tube in the preamp and uses a solid state power amp. The FX loop enables you to put your time based effects (or Phasers, Flangers and Choruses) behind the drive section and keep the effects sharp and not prevent them from being too muddy.
The icing on the cake is the BLUETOOTH connectivity. Easily connect with your BLUETOOTH enabled device and play music through the BantamP. This is great to practice with PlayAlongs or to learn songs.
