Embrace the winter cycling experience in Edmonton!

Welcome to the Winter Cycling Congress in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Treaty 6 territory!

Join us in February 2024 for an unforgettable multi-day event filled with informative sessions, bicycle excursions, and a community of passionate winter cyclists. Discover new possibilities while exploring the cycling-friendly city of Edmonton. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to connect with fellow enthusiasts and learn from experts in the field.

We are thrilled to launch our registration and our call for presenters.  We have also added our Edmonton accommodations partner, the Westin Hotel right in the heart of downtown.

We aim to have the event drive a conversation about winter cycling within a broad sense of being in a healthy city. What are the lessons learned from other areas of Canada and around the world in the future of cycling and active transportation? Our call for presenters will reach researchers, policy makers, industry leaders and community members. We are looking for those with the knowledge of shifting to healthy and more sustainable communities.

Explore Edmonton Presents - Landmarks & Legends

Check out the latest Explore Edmonton video above to get a feel for this fast-growing, dynamic, highly-educated city. It’s a beautiful place to be with a thriving arts and culture environment and a leading technology industry. The  river valley in the heart of Edmonton brings nature to the city, and  we’re also right on the doorstep of the Canadian Rockies!

The city boasts an ambitious $100M bike plan for infrastructure and programs to support equitable, accessible use of bike lines. It also has a comprehensive WinterCity Strategy and dedicated staff to engage activity, social connections and wellness in the winter months. In our humble and very biased opinion, Edmonton is the perfect place to host the Winter Cycling Congress.

Fun fact: Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi likes to cycle, is a former bus driver and was Canada's minister for infrastructure and communities!

Pre-conference Event

We are hosting a pre-conference event! It will move knowledge around strategic investments and policy to help school jurisdictions reduce emissions and improve student well-being. Join us as we explore research, policies, evidence-based tools, and best practices that can be added to your school jurisdiction’s transportation toolkit. Get tickets.

Come for the conference, stay for the incredible places to visit.

The town of Jasper is in the heart of Jasper National Park, a 3 hour and 45 min drive from Edmonton.  The park’s shimmering glaciers, abundant wildlife, crystal-clear lakes, thundering waterfalls, deep canyons and evergreen forest — all surrounded by towering mountains — are some of the reasons the park was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s one of 20 such sites in Canada. At 11,228 square kilometers (4,335 square miles), Jasper National Park is also Canada's largest park in the Rocky Mountains and the second largest Dark Sky Preserve in the world.

Jasper offers breathtaking sites and memorable experiences. Winter highlights include snowshoeing, skiing on groomed trails, fat biking, skating and more!

The Winter Cycling Congress is working alongside the Town of Jasper to create adventures before and or after the Congress to visit and enjoy. More details to come!
