I am running 3.30.2 (s' Hertogenbosch) QGIS on MacOS Big Sur 11.7.6

I get this error when running the Whitebox plugin tools, regardless of tool or dataset:

This is what my environment page looks like:

I pointed to the whitebox .py file and removed the file extension based on a thread I had read from here: https://github.com/jblindsay/whitebox-tools/issues/50

Unsure if it is truly a permission error or related my version of MacOS, any help would be appreciated. Surprisingly hard to find others with the same issue,

thanks,
- Carl

Hello Carl,

Your problem could be a number of things. First, just to confirm, it looks to me like you have installed the WhiteboxTools executable (in a WBT2 folder), but just to clarify, when you install the QGIS plugin, you don’t automatically get the WhiteboxTools executable file installed at the same time. For that, you need to visit www.whiteboxgeo.com.

What operating system are you using? I suspect it is either linux or MacOS based on your screengrab. If this is the case, then you may have to explicitly give the whitebox_tools executable file permission to run. I suspect this is your issue.

Regards,

John

John,

I did indeed do both installs. I ended up figuring out I made a basic, stupid mistake - I downloaded the Mac executable for the M series instead of intel. When I
downloaded the intel package it worked flawlessly. Ill update my page to make that known publically in case other people have the same issue,

Hello Carl,

I’m thankful to hear that it’s resolved. I didn’t think of that as a possible error, but now that I reflect on it, I probably should have. Thanks for the update.

Regards,

John
