Hello all, This is my first try experimenting with the White Oak
Barrels. I have two of the small 3 litters size. The First barrel
got a Scotch Mix of Johnny Walker Blue and Red. Im interested to see
what kind of flavors I can add with the aging process. The second
barrel is a mix of Tequila with a bottle of Patron Platinum and Cabo
wabo. Now I know neither mix can be called Scotch or Tequila, not
being made in Scotland or Mexico, but Im wondering what aging here in
Las Vegas is going to add. I will update if anyone is interested as
the tasting begins.

Johnny Walker Blue and Red have already been aged enough by experts,
don’t think you can improve on those, better monitor and taste them
often, I wouldn’t want you to ruin a good bottle of scotch. The
tequilas will surely improve but again taste them often because in the
beginning the small new barrels will do their job quickly and you
might get too much flavor but if that happens you can always blend it
with some more tequila that hasn't been aged.

I am gettting my first set of barrels soon.  They are the1.3 liter barrels. I
want to make my own bourbon and scotch.  Is there a good recipe for
bourbon?  I cannot find anything on line to make scotch.  I was hoping
for some prepared mash as opposed to starting from scratch.

If I do take a cheap scotch and barrel it, the issue will be it will be ready in
under a month and I would have to refil the barrel with something.  I doubt
I can drink a gallon of scotch in a few weeks.
