Using barrels for water.

Hi!  I'm searching for a water cask for primitive camping.  Would your barrels work to hold water, or would the water come out tasting too woody?  Thanks!

My new barrels impart color and flavor to the water. I cannot make a barrel without any char; the heat helps to shape the staves but I can make a barrel with as little char as possible by using steam and hot water. You can rinse it out with hot water several times until the water comes out clear.
