Hello Scouts and Scouters, Friends and Family of Jamboree Troops 1632
and 1633.
Over the next several days one of our Jamboree Leaders will call each
Jamboree family to cover items. Below are the items they will
discuss.
All of the Jamboree adult leaders are calling every family to make
sure everyone has all the information you need for the trip.
1. Large Duffel Bags are due this next week at either St Andrews
Presbyterian Church in Dallas (location of our troop meetings) on
Monday July 12th or at Northgate United Methodist Church in Irving on
Tuesday July 13th. Meeting times are 7pm. We have to have the large
duffel bag at one of these two dates. All our large duffel bags are
going up early.
2. All Scouts must arrive at DFW Airport at 5AM Wednesday July 21st.
US Airways is located in Terminal E. We do not know the specific gate
yet but they only have four gates, 35-38. Please arrive in Full
Uniform with your two carry-on bags - small duffel bag and backpack.
***Special note on our Travels July 21st. The first meal the Jamboree
covers is Lunch. For both troops lunch will be 1:30pm-2pm. With a
layover and transfer in Charlotte NC the flights will not be long
enough for full meal service. We recommend each Scout and Scouter pack
a snack bag so they do not go hungry between 5am and 1:30pm. *******
Please have all your toiletries in a clear zip lock bag with the
Sout's name on it. Do not worry about the size of the toiletries as we
will collect them in one bag per troop and check them in. Troop 1633
will check in both bags and deliver toiletries to 1632 that night at
the hotel. Be sure to keep a small bottle of sunscreen with the carry-
on backpack. The large duffel bags do go up early. Anything heat
sensitive or liquids please consider taking with you to the airport.
While radios are welcome (yes there is a jamboree radio station)
please pack your radios in the large duffel bag. We will also have a
radio for general use in our campsite.
3. Do you have any medication we need to handle and/or administer?
Medication is administered in the campsite. There are refrigerators
nearby if needed. In our troops medication will be handled by 1632 is
Joey Castleberry T1633 is Mark Sligar.
4. Do you need us to handle any funds for your Scout on the tour or
at Jamboree? In our troop Scout money is handled by T1632 John Fox
Holt, T1633 David Davidson.
Each patrol will have an assigned adult leader. He will disperse funds
as needed/directed.
We will be dispursing cash to each Scout for meals before each meal.
They keep whatever they do not spend on the meal.
3. Patches / Extra Hats / Extra T-shirts are for sale at the troop
meetings leading up to Jamboree and on the trip. If you need a troop
# patch or Jamboree participation patch please let Harry Bubeck know.
