A word on patches and trading. Your Scout will meet other Scouts from
all over our country and even other countries like Japan, Canada,
Mexico, England, South Korea, ect.. At Jamboree Scouts meet and greet
each other by trading patches. It is a swap item like hat pins or
baseball cards. Trading patches with Scouts from across the country is
HUGE at Jamboree. Trading Patches is the social thread that connects
everyone. For that reason we created our own trading patch and our
Circle Ten Council marked the prices on the patches to be as
affordable as possible for our Scouts. Trading always ends with a firm
handshake. And sometimes it is not just patches. In 1985 I was a Scout
at the Jamboree. It was the last day and we were waiting for our coach
to take us to the airport. My patrol met up with a patrol of Scouts
from Mexico. We got to talking and one of the Mexican Scouts offered
to trade uniform shirts with me! I think last day of the Jamboree. We
are going home, why not?! So with that trade all the other Mexican
Scouts and U.S. Scouts started trading uniform parts - one of my
friends walked off the plane back home in Dallas in a full Mexican
Scout uniform! Please note this does not mean we want, encourage or
intend, for your scout to trade his uniform, but it is a neat story
and is a great example of how trade happy we can get at Jamboree. Yes,
I still have the shirt. No, it does not fit anymore.

-------------
Our Travel Agency packets are in!! We have everything we need for a
successful tour (we hope). We will have a conference call with our
travel agent to review the packets Friday morning. After the review we
will send out our email "packet" to you. Please note on NYC - we will
have a travel agent with us each day in NYC. It is good form to tip
her/him for their service. If you can, please contribute to this tip.
You can give money John Fox Holt for 1632 and David Davidson for 1633
at the airport - we are two separate tours with two travel agents so
it is important any contribution go to your own son's Jamboree troop.

Please be at the DFW airport Terminal E Gates 35-38 at 5AM next
Wednesday July 21st. We will return in the afternoon on August 4th.
