Dear WDHC (formerly WHIT) executive committee,

Good session tonight. Here are the highlights of what was discussed and decided. Please take two minutes to read through:

Updates:
  • Brand: We have a new name! Wharton Digital Health Club (WDHC). We can walk you through the rationale during the next meeting. (Summary of the group discussion: Health Tech is too similar to Tech Club and HCC; doesn’t stand out. Digital Health is a broad definition and encompasses consumer healthcare (which Apple and Samsung are moving full speed into — key to grow our membership on the tech side) in addition to traditional healthcare IT and tech-enabled services). Still open to discussion if someone feels strongly against it.
  • Startup Weekend Health: Given the amount of work, we will create two SWH leadership positions, separate from Outreach, given the amount of work it represents (Hedin may be the 2nd year next year, TBC after the event).
  • Events/logistics/operations role to be integrated into other functions, no longer as standalone.

VP Reports:
Career: NY-trek on 4/11. Confirmed: Zocdoc, Noom, Medivo. Blueprint (no answer), Oscar (TBC)

Startup Weekend Health: Spread the word, we are a behind in sign-ups. Hedin to blast e-mail all of WG 14-15, Vagelos (undergrads) , PhDs, Med Schools other schools and business schools within 100 miles (Hopkins, Columbia, NYU, etc).

Outreach: (other than Startup Weekend Health) Hedin/Tom/Ryan keep on building relationship with PHITC community; will discuss having one or two of their quarterly meetings at Wharton/Huntsman.

Finance: Alumni funding effort to take place early next academic year. PPT fundraising deck to be designed by finance VP beforehand and presented to exec committee. Got a bank account: $1,500, with $5,000 extra coming from Pharmetrics.

Client Relationships (formerly “Consulting”): $5,000 from Pharmetrics. Penn project: data is forthcoming following successful discussion. Kelly to stay on as second year VP.

Communications: Rada to meet with  designer for new logo. Newsletter to include feed from sources such as FierceHealthIT, MedCityNews, StartUpHealth, Rock Weekly, etc. similarly to the PEVC newsletter (Rada — let’s talk offline about specifics).

Social: Plan social event by academic year-end. Idea: launch party for the “new group” to raise awareness.

Next Steps:

Meeting times: Some of you are busy past 8pm. Let’s move our meeting to 9pm on Wednesdays biweekly. Does this work? Please let us know if it doesn’t.

Meetings Left: 4/2, 4/16, 4/30 (all at 9pm)

Strategy Meeting:
Let’s make the 4/2 meeting the all-executives strategy meeting. We’ll take 90 minutes to lay down and discuss a game-plan for the 2014-2015 academic year. If 4/2 doesn’t work, please let us know asap. Let’s make a priority to all attend this important meeting. Please mark your calendars.
(Rada suggested creating a role that represents our interest at the HCC (like an ambassador). I agree, especially as we grow bigger. Let’s discuss during the strategy meeting).

Best,
Emily & Daniel

All,

Another suggested option for biweekly meetings is Tuesdays at 7:30pm. Let me know if this doesn’t work, and what conflicts with the slot if it’s the case.

No need to reply if this works for you. Please let me know by Friday evening.

Best,
Daniel

Hi all,

After discussing with a few people 8:30pm on Tuesdays is best (4/1, 4/15, 4/29).

If you have any “hard” conflicts (classes, other clubs, travels) that interfere with this time, please let me know by tonight (Friday) as I’ll send around calendar invitations.

I would like to have all first years and second years attend, especially for the strategy meeting (4/1).

If this time triggers more conflicts, I’ll send around a when2meet, but would rather avoid it.

Best,
Daniel
