You may have heard about the "Agriculture Support Program", which provides one-time payments to farms that purchased fuel in 2023. This is funded as part of the Climate Commitment Act in Washington. Small producers are also eligible to receive funds from this. If you purchased less than 1000 gallons of fuel in 2023 you receive a flat amount of $600! Our farm was eligible for both the fuel we used to grow crops and also to transport crops, but our total was under 1000 gallons so the distinction didn't really matter. The form says you can round to the nearest 100 gallons. I used our 2023 tax return and looked at the fuel category on our schedule F to estimate the gallons.  It took me about ten minutes to submit online. You will need both your Washington UBI number and your Farmer Sales Tax exemption form (Form 27 0036). If you don't already have the sales tax exemption form, it's easy to fill out and sign and it allows you to purchase seeds and fertilizer without paying sales tax. You send it to Johnny's/Osborne/etc and they don't charge sales tax on your seed purchases.

Hope this is helpful to y'all and hope you all survived the wind!

FYI: This program is now open for 2024 fuel purchases. I just submitted my application and direct deposit info to get the $600. The terms and instructions are mostly identical to last year.

"The program will remain available until funding runs out. There is $28,500,000 available to provide to the community through this program."

Here is the website to find more info and apply:
