to Whidbey Farmers
I know this isn't directly farming related, but we got a heat pump for our house through this organization so I wanted to share this with you. Unfortunately, some of their funding is "going away" soon so they want people to attend an info session by the May 21 deadline. This is a local organization based on Whidbey and their events have a fun community feel with free local catered food and door prizes. There is one tonight in Coupeville! My sister-in-law, Sage, is playing music there.

Kicking Gas is offering subsidies of up to $10,000 to cover 20-75% of a total retrofit cost for a heat pump depending on household income and $1,000 for an induction stove. The campaign is committed to supporting locally-owned and independently-operated businesses, including heat pump installers; it has several vetted installers, including Island Ductless Heat Pumps, Energywise, and AP Mechanical on Whidbey Island. Additionally, business appliance upgrades may be available for farmers. A waiting list has been set up for businesses on the website: https://www.kickgasnow.org/survey-for-businesses. Kicking Gas often has spots open up, so businesses are welcome to fill out the survey; Kicking Gas will reach out if they have openings, and, when the next round of funding for businesses becomes available!

You’re invited to our in person Info Session in Coupeville, this Monday, May 5th, from 5:30-7:30pm.

Doors will open at 5:30pm with music, food, and mingling—and door prizes. The presentation will start at 6pm. This event is family-friendly. Feel free to spread the word to friends and family!

This is an excellent opportunity for folks in Central Whidbey to complete the core information requirement for the KG heat pump and cooking subsidy programs, and to learn more about the important health impacts of transitioning from fossil fuels to electric. Join Us!

If you’re unable to attend the Info Session on Monday? We are offering several though May 21, the final deadline for attending an Info Session to qualify for a subsidy before the end of the current funding cycle. Feel free to pre-register for any of the Info Sessions, including the one on May 5.

Thanks,
