Then they debited my Via card and emailed me an activation code. However this proved unusable. No matter how I entered (pasted or keyed) the serial number I got "The serial number is invalid" before I ever got to enter the activation code. At one stage I got something about my email domain's MX code was not valid though it worked perfectly before. Since my user id is registered with Corel I cannot change my email address and phone calls leave me hanging on indefinitely.
The injected code ensures that the user does not notice that the account number has been swapped by preventing any account number other than the one defined by the user from being displayed. The scam can be avoided by comparing the desired account number with the one received in the bank text message containing the single-use confirmation code (mTAN) if enabled.
