The mistake made, it seems, was requiring a player to undock and do something. That was the old CCP, which really wanted players to get out and blow stuff up. But real MMOs just hand stuff out for merely logging in, so the new Pearl Abyss owned CCP is going to try it that way now.

That graphic, which they are using everywhere for this campaign, including in an email blast to players, which surprisingly went out in a timely manner, makes it sound like your skill training speed will be going 2x. So if you are training at 2,700 SP per hour, it should be going 5,400 per hour from today until November 19th hits, right?

Instead, if you log in two of the next three days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), you will get some skill points applied to one of the characters on a given account. You get 25K SP if you have an Alpha account and 50K SP if you have an Omega.

For example, your default Alpha character trains skills at 900 SP per hour, which only gives them 21.6K SP per day. So the 25K SP they get is actually more than double for a day, but with only two gifts over the three days, actually less than double over the course of the event.

And using that terminology managed to get at least one gaming site to declare that your training speed would be doubled AND you would get free SP for logging in as well, which led to a grumpy comment from me as I had provided the tip, taking pains to describe what the event actually entailed.

Which may leave you asking why I am suddenly on about daily login rewards becoming a thing. This is just one event, right? CCP has done this before, right? I mean, we had to log in every day for how many days to collect gifts from the Yule Lads for Yoiul that one year, remember?

This advanced course will help you make strides as a lead guitarist and break out of any soloing ruts you're stuck in. Rosie will guide you through a simple approach to hearing, singing, & playing your way through the major, minor, & dominant worlds of sound while showing you how to apply a soulful & melodic approach to your existing soloing skills.

Today, you'll get right into the thick of it by jamming over a II-V-I progression with Rosie. You'll get acquainted with melodic soloing via two easy-to-grasp concepts: licks and improvisation. True melodic magic is achieved by combining both approaches into something only you could conceive of.

The major scale?! Boring right? Wrong! It's the center of the Western music theory universe, and you need to know it better than Facebook knows your internet browsing habits. Rosie will guide you through scales, arpeggios, patterns, and a lick to show you how to get the most out of this staple skill. Then, you'll jam out with here over a backing track.

We do this through Learning Pathways that take you on a step-by-step journey towards fretboard mastery. We give you a highly structured system that shows you exactly what to work on each week to make serious progress.

These Learning Pathways take the guesswork out of your practice routine. You are guided through a proven grade-by-grade system with daily lessons, play-along practice exercises and interactive workouts.

You also get 1:1 video feedback on your playing from our expert instructors and can attend weekly live lessons. This personal feedback makes Pickup Music the closest thing to taking in-person lessons, but at a fraction of the cost.

By following our proven Learning Pathway system, you can stop wasting your time and effort trying to guess what you should practice next. Our guided programs eliminate the guesswork so you know exactly what you need to focus on each day and week to make lasting progress with guitar.

Most online guitar lesson sites are very good at teaching one-off songs and licks. Or they get super famous guitarists to record one-hour video lessons talking at length about their particular style and career.

Pickup Music takes a different approach. We give you a highly structured system that shows you exactly what to work on each week to make serious progress. We take you beyond the basics through a step-by-step journey towards fretboard mastery.

You get day-by-day lessons, play along practice exercises with your instructor, interactive jams with the Pickup Music live band and you can submit videos of your playing for feedback from the Pickup Music team.

We designed this system so that you will know exactly what to practice every time you pick up the guitar. This means that even if you only have time to practice with us once a week, you will still make great progress by following a Learning Pathways.

Whichever approach you choose, we recommend building the exercises you learn into your daily practice schedule. The best way to improve as a guitarist is through a consistent practice routine rather than sporadic, longer sessions. Learning guitar is a day-by-day, life-long journey.

Everything on Pickup Music is designed to be taken at your own pace. There are no deadlines, so you can work at your own speed. You can stay on a topic until you really understand it before you move on.

We want our members to get the closest thing possible to in-person lessons but at a fraction of the cost. That's why you can now get individual video feedback on your guitar playing from our team of expert instructors.

Too many people get frustrated with guitar because they develop bad habits and poor technique. Avoid these costly and time-consuming mistakes by taking Pickup Music's structured and step-by-step approach to learning guitar.

You'll start with Pickup Music's introductory program Beginner Learning Pathway. Over three weeks, we break down everything from simple chords and melodies to rhythm and lead playing. By the end of the program, you'll be able to play any simple pop or rock song (and even write your own).

Most importantly, we make sure you don't get stuck in the beginner's plateau - a common pitfall for guitarists who are just starting out. You'll keep making progress through Pickup Music's guided Learning Pathways. These programs are designed to quickly take you from a beginner player to an intermediate one who feels comfortable across the whole fretboard.

Pickup Music is the best platform available for intermediate and advanced guitarists. Our courses take you beyond the basics to advanced concepts like the CAGED system, triads, arpeggios, modes and improvisation.

The biggest trap for intermediate players is bouncing around from lesson to lesson without a plan or structure to get to that next level. We are known for taking intermediate and advanced players who have hit a ceiling and busting through until they reach the next level.

When you first sign up to a Pickup Music membership, you enter your credit card but it will not be charged for 14 days. That means that if you decide to cancel within 14 days of signing up, you won't pay anything.

The World Poker Tour and its production staff are back at the Luxor at HyperX Arena in Las Vegas to tape and livestream the final tables of the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown, WPT Choctaw, and the WPT Gardens Poker Championship over the next three days.

Starting today at 4:30 p.m. PT, poker fans can watch every minute of the action on the WPT YouTube channel, Twitch channel, and Facebook, as well as OTT platforms WatchWPT, Plex and DistroTV. Commentating from the booth are Jeff Platt and Jamie Kerstetter.

While Weng has to be the statistical favorite, all the players but Jarufe have enough chips and to stop this final table from turning into a run-away. And this group has enough talent and results to do it.

Who's ready for some free jazz in downtown Jacksonville? The Jacksonville Jazz Festival, which will be held over Memorial Day weekend, announced its first round of performers and the lineup is sure to please jazz fans, with big names such as Wynton Marsalis, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Shemekia Copeland, Larry Carlton and Pieces of a Dream set to play. Saxman David Sanborn was added to the lineup this week.

The festival will kick off May 26 with the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition at the Florida Theatre, then move to outdoor stages on the downtown streets for the next three days. All of the outdoor shows are free, but VIP tickets are available.

The initial announcement has the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, bassist Ron Carter's Foursight Quartet, pianist Eddie Palmieri, vocalist Carmen Lundy, R&B singer Eric Roberson and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band performing on Friday, May 26. On Saturday, May 27, the lineup includes guitarist Larry Carlton, bass player Marcus Miller, contemporary jazz band Pieces of a Dream, Jacksonville drummer Ulysses Owens Jr. and his band, Generation Y, the U.S. Army Ambassadors Jazztet and Florida singer CeCe Teneal. The final day of the festival, Sunday, May 28, has performances scheduled by Grammy-winning singer Samara Joy, blues singer Shemekia Copeland, saxophone player David Sanborn and the winner of the Jazz Piano Competition. More acts are expected to be announced in the next few weeks.

The festival will utilize two stages this year. The Groovin' Stage will be at Ford on Bay, on the banks of the St. Johns River near the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront. The Swingin' Stage will be at Riverfront Plaza, where the Jacksonville Landing used to stand.

Most people are going to drive downtown and, since it's a holiday weekend, the parking garages and surface lots should have plenty of space for fans. The St. Johns River Taxi and the JTA Skyway have extended their hours to accommodate festival-goers in the past.

Coolers, tents, grills, alcohol, outside food and drink, knives, guns or other weapons, skates, skateboards, illegal drugs, bicycles, scooters, balls, Frisbees, signs or flags larger than two-by-three feet, drones or any other items deemed unacceptable by the city of Jacksonville were all banned at last year's festival. All guests are subject to search upon entering the venues.
