Problems with getting routes

When I try to get the routes a blue box covers the screw with the
arrows at the top and all of this stuff shown below in boxes down the
LHS. When you touch the boxes little coloured bars appear down the
RHS, but the whole app is unusable. You have to double click the home
button and completely shut down the app to get it back to the start
screen.
